It's Children's Day in Portsmouth...again, and MY Kids are Growing up!!

Posted by Bill Page on

What’s up with the weather?  It’s Sunday May 5th and I’m here in downtown Portsmouth, NH or, #DTP as my daughters and their friends call it.  It’s gray, overcast, and about 55 degrees but it’s not raining for a change! Today is “Children’s Day” here on Pleasant Street from 12-4:30.   It’s a day when Portsmouth retailers, agencies, and otherwise civic minded people take time to do something for the kids! Pleasant street will be closed to vehicular traffic and all kinds of things will be set up to entertain the kids and educate the parents.  It’s NOT about selling stuff...

Market Square Day - It’s changed a lot for me.

This island is basically a city park and it's set up with charcoal grills, picnic tables, little roof structures, and rest rooms.  There's a nice grassy area at it's center for frisbee...or better yet, Buoy Bat!  When my children were young and we lived in Portsmouth, we came here on a number of Sunday's and had cookouts...

You Snooze, You Lose!

Posted by Bill Page on

Oh what a day! Today marks my first day as a street vendor in Portsmouth when I snoozed and lost!  Huh you ask?  As a licensed vendor, I’m able to set up in 1 of 7 regulated spaces whenever I want.  Today was the first day I showed up and another vendor was in the spot I like best.  So, I moved to my 2nd favorite spot which in turn moved Caleb to his 2nd favorite spot!  Caleb’s my buddy and he was a good sport about it!  So in reality, I didn't lose!  (The picture of me above with...
